Sincere Condolences with Wilairot family (8/12/2010)

Ratthapark Wilairot, who was seriously injured in a road traffic accident that killed the rider of the motorcycle the Thai Moto2 rider was a passenger on. News emanating out of Thailand, in both the Bangkok Post and the website StayOnTheBlack.com suggests that happily, Wilairot's condition is improving.
According to the reports, Wilairot is now conscious, though the Stop&Go rider is still unable to talk. Fears of brain damage appear to have been allayed, as though Wilairot is not yet capable of speaking, he has been able to communicate with the doctors by a primitive sign language, and answer some of their questions.
Wilairot usually lives in Spain, but had returned to Thailand to attend his father's funeral. Christmas Wilairot, himself a former motorcycle racer, died last week of liver cancer.The service for Ratthapark's father has been postponed, in the hope that Ratthapark will have recovered sufficiently to attend his father's funeral.
Ratthapark Biography
born April 14, 1988 in Chonburi Province, Thailand) is a Grand Prix motorcycle road racer from Thailand. He joined the 250cc World Championship in 2007 as a member of the Thai Honda PTT-SAG team. Wilairot competed in the 2006 Japanese Grand Prix as a wild-card and finished a respectable 10th after qualifying in 14th place. In 2006 he was runner-up in the challenging Japanese national Championship.
Ratthapark Wilairot is the eldest son of Thai veteran racer Christmas Wilairot, Vee Rubber sponsored racer. Ratthapark began racing career with Vee Rubber times, He began junior road racing at 5 years old and first won a 50cc motocross trophy at the age of ten. Ratthapark has a younger brother Ratthapong Wilairot (Float, born 1993) who also seeking advancement in motorcycle racing career.
Wilairot currently lies twelfth in the Moto2 World Championship, after a best result of fourth at Assen. Wilairot had qualified on the front row for the first time, and challenged for the lead with eventual race winner Andrea Iannone. Title challengers Toni Elías and Thomas Lüthi later demoted Wilairot to just off the podium.
